The trials, tribulations and adventures of being a new Principal

About Leah Ann Childers

I am a first year principal in a Pre-K through 4th grade building in Central Ohio. Prior to becoming an administrator, I taught for 15 years. My classroom teaching experience includes 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades as well as gifted reading and math. Both my teaching experience and administrative experience have been in high poverty buildings, where over 55 % of the population is below the federal poverty line.

My primary interest is in my role as an instructional leader. I am constantly asking myself how I can work to help teachers and to improve learning in our community.

The views that I express in my blog are my own and not necessarily those of my employer.
